The Singaporean Employment Pass is a work visa intended for foreign professionals, managers, and executives who wish to take up employment in Singapore. Applicants must have a job offer that meets the minimum income requirements and have the qualifications required to fulfil their role. If granted, Employment Pass holders can stay in Singapore for two years initially, and this can be extended for up to three years. Under the Employment Pass scheme, it is also possible for family members to join the pass holder in Singapore.
According to the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower (MoM), to qualify for an Employment Pass for Singapore, applicants must meet the following criteria:
A higher salary than $4,500 per month may be needed by some, depending on their age/industry. For example, the salary requirement for those in the financial sector is $5,000 per month. The rules also state, “The qualifying salaries for older and more experienced candidates in their 40s will be raised correspondingly and will remain around double the minimum qualifying salary for the youngest applicants”.
Before an employer can apply for an Employment Pass for a foreign worker, they need to follow the Singaporean Fair Consideration Framework (FCF), which requires that they advertise the role domestically on the MyCareersFuture website for at least 28 days, and all candidates must be considered fairly. This is similar to a labour market test carried out in many other countries to ensure that no settled worker can fill the role before it is offered to an overseas candidate.
MoM states that applications are accepted from all nationalities.

Applications for Employment Passes in Singapore have to be completed by either the employer or an employment agent. The steps are as follows:
Once the application, documents, and payment have been submitted, it then takes around three weeks for applications to be processed.
If approved, the candidate is then permitted to travel to Singapore (they will need entry approval to travel to Singapore). At this stage, the employer needs to request the candidate’s pass and pay $225 for each one. After this, a notification letter will be issued, which permits the candidate to work while waiting for their pass card. The candidate will then need to register their biometrics at an Employment Pass Services Centre (EPSC), and the card will be delivered by post within four working days.
Your pass will allow you to stay in Singapore for up to two years initially, after which you can apply to renew your pass for a further three years. This can be done up to six months before the pass expires.
