Visa nationals are mandated to receive entry clearance whereas non-visa nationals are awarded leave to enter as General Visitors on arrival at a UK port of entry. In a situation where an individual is granted leave to enter the UK for less than six months, he/she can be granted an extension on application to remain; making their stay up to a total of six months.
